The Lake Tahoe Snowmobilers was founded in 2019 to advocate for OHV access to our public lands, bring our OHV community together in a family-friendly environment that includes new and experienced riders, and promote safety. In that time, we have grown to nearly 200 paid members of the club with over 550 people who have joined the Facebook group.
Yes, this is a shameless plug for joining the club as a paid member. When it comes to advocating for access to our public lands, there is strength in numbers. When it comes to being able to afford safety equipment, apply for state OHV grants, and supporting OSV education and safety, there is strength in numbers. When it comes to working with the ranger districts of the various local forests that we ride, there is strength in numbers. And, with those numbers comes a ton of work, all of which is fulfilled by volunteers. Volunteers help with setup and cleanup for events. They help manage the Facebook group with posts and calendaring events. They collaborate with local Forest Service Districts. They help with the website which includes updating the site, memberships, posts, and email lists. They help with purchasing and sales of merchandise. They help with making digital brochures and flyers. They help the club manage finances, including submitting annual taxes for the 501(c)3. They help with managing volunteer hours and coordinating volunteer events such as trash cleanups. They help with writing and managing grants. And they help with much more.
