Sierra Avalanche Center takes on the giant task of providing us with an avalanche forecast. A big part of the daily avalanche forecast is done through observations. An observation can be done by anyone willing to take the time to do so. It is very simple to do and does not require a great deal of detail. A simple photo, date, time, and location can go a long way and help to ensure the safety of us all in the backcountry.
